Corkscrew Pass is at the top of Corkscrew Gulch which begins on Highway 550 between Silverton and Ouray. A 4WD road climbs up eastward from the highway to a shoulder of Red Mountain No. 1 then descends to the Cement Creek Valley before continuing on to the mining ghost town of Animas Forks. Corkscrew Pass is part of the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (COBDR) and is one of the most epic passes in Colorado.
