The Black Hole is a narrow slot canyon day-hike that requires swimming through long cold pools between hiking segments. It’s a popular but dangerous canyoneering spot that is prone to flash floods.
With a perfect forecast (no rain showers anywhere in the region) this down-canyon hike is a fun adventure. You’ll need a shuttle vehicle (or hitchhike) to get back to the upper trailhead and avoid a hot hike along Highway 95. The Black Hole is located in White Canyon between Natural Bridges National Monument and the Hite Marina on upper Lake Powell (Colorado River).
