Cheeseboro / Palo Comado Canyons Park is a separate northern unit of Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It is little known to those in Los Angeles, but the residents of Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley and the greater part of Ventura County are glad to have it. You’ll find many trails in Cheeseboro / Palo Comado Park and they are not only open to hiking, but also mountain biking and equestrian use. There’s even a segment of Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail that runs through the middle of the park.
