White Horse Hill National Game Preserve has been a big game preserve and protected wildlife habitat since being transferred to the US Fish and Wildlife Service (National Wildlife Refuge System) in 1931. Now it is home to North American Bison and many other species large and small. It’s a 1674 acre hilly property with a mix of woods and wetlands.

The refuge is open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset year-round and has a visitor center with hours that vary (parking lot is open year-round) . If you want to see White Horse Hill Preserve there are hiking trails, including a quarter-mile long accessible trail to a lookout, that begin from the parking lot.
