Bluejohn Canyon (sometimes Blue John but USGS has always called it Bluejohn one word) is a slot canyon made famous by the movie 127 Hours which portrayed the real Aron Ralston who did a solo trip in Bluejohn and was trapped in the canyon for several days. Aron was forced to cut a portion of his arm off as it was trapped by a chockstone that moved when he was descending. This is a technical slot canyon that requires ropes and gear for rappelling. The county has posted warnings about the time required to do this canyon trip and the costs associated with being rescued if you screw up.

Bluejohn Canyon is located just west and outside of Canyonlands National Park near the Horseshoe Canyon Unit of the park.
