This hike features many different lava rock arches along the shoreline north of Honaunau Bay on the Big Island. It can be done as an out-and-back or a loop but either way you park near the Two Step snorkeling spot on the bay.
Along the way this hike passes by Miana Point and Pehehoni Point before turning inland on an old road to form a loop where you walk back to your car on Keala O Keawe Road. There are more arches north of the turning point for the loop but it’s an out and back if you explore up there.
The Starting Point is located at 19.42592, -155.91171. From there you walk toward the ocean through tight vegetation and soon it opens to the black lava rock shore. You then then follow the shore northward and will discover many rock arches, blowhole like depressions, and other unique rock formations. Eventually you’ll reach a large hole in the rock at the turning point (19.43364, -155.9202) where you can either walk back the way you came or go inland on an old two track road. If you take the latter just turn right when you hit the main paved road and it will take you back to your car at the Two Step.
